The role
We're looking for an enthusiastic apprentice who wants to build a career in classic-car restoration.
Working alongside experienced specialists, you'll learn how a restoration progresses from initial assessment and strip through component restoration, body, trim, reassembly and final checks. You'll develop an understanding of Ferrari engineering and the care required when working with valuable cars and original components.
Your responsibilities will grow with your training and experience. You'll begin with supervised workshop tasks, building the skills and judgement needed to take on more involved work.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with dismantling vehicles and components, photographing work and carefully labelling, cataloguing and storing parts.
- Clean and prepare components for inspection, repair or refinishing, following instructions and protecting original materials.
- Support mechanical restoration across engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems, with electrical work introduced as training progresses.
- Learn to use tooling, workshop equipment and measuring instruments correctly.
- Follow technical information and assembly instructions, developing an understanding of correct assembly methods.
- Assist with reassembly, adjustment and workshop checks under supervision.
- Keep accurate records of work completed, identifying defects and raising questions promptly.
- Understand how mechanical restoration fits alongside body, paint and trim work.
- Keep tools and work areas organised, protect vehicles and follow workshop safety procedures.
What we're looking for
You’ll have a strong interest in classic cars and how they work, together with the commitment to learn a demanding craft. Previous Ferrari experience is not expected.
We're looking for someone with:
- A practical approach and curiosity about how mechanical components fit and function.
- Patience and attention to detail, including during repetitive preparation or recording work.
- Reliability, good timekeeping and pride in completing tasks properly.
- The ability to listen, follow instructions, accept feedback and ask for help.
- Basic numeracy and the ability to maintain clear written or digital records.
- Respect for valuable vehicles, original components and the people working around them.
School or college engineering projects, relevant courses, work experience or practical hobbies would be useful. We'd like to hear about anything you've built, repaired or maintained, even outside an automotive workshop.
Training and development
You'll learn directly from experienced restorers, developing practical workshop skills alongside an understanding of Ferrari construction, period specifications and the importance of retaining original components where appropriate.
Training will cover careful dismantling, measurement, component assessment, assembly and documenting the work. As your ability grows, you'll take greater responsibility for suitable tasks, with work checked by experienced team members.
The aim is to develop a capable restoration technician who understands both how to carry out a job and why a particular repair or restoration method is appropriate.
What the role offers
- Practical experience with classic Ferraris in a specialist restoration workshop.
- The opportunity to follow longer projects and see how individual tasks contribute to a completed car.
- A foundation for a long-term career in specialist vehicle restoration.
