Role Purpose

To provide day-to-day electrical maintenance support across all machinery, services, and facilities within the operational areas. This role ensures manufacturing operations receive technical support and proactive solutions to electrical engineering issues to maintain and maximise production capability.

Areas of Responsibility & Key Activities

  • Provide electrical maintenance cover for production to resolve breakdowns promptly and minimise downtime.
  • Use internal systems to log, record, and close all Active Maintenance tasks.
  • Use the Maintenance Request Database to log, record, and complete all Reactive Maintenance tasks.
  • Deliver project work from installation through commissioning, ensuring implementation aligns with project plans.
  • Provide technical support to the engineering department, operational teams, and external contractors to ensure optimal solutions are identified and implemented.
  • Participate in team meetings to support departmental performance, continuous improvement, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Comply with site rules regarding health and safety, environmental standards, and quality procedures.
  • Conduct safe dismantling of machinery, perform checks, and support breakdown resolution.
  • Complete weekly energy readings and report any issues to management.
  • Carry out daily risk assessments on workstations, machinery, and production areas; report maintenance requirements in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Support the lock-out/tag-out system.
  • Conduct effective shift handovers with Team Leaders and Management.
  • Perform PAT testing in accordance with Fire Safety Regulations N.I. and Health & Safety requirements; report any issues to line management.
  • Contribute to waste-reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent, or strong practical experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Train the Trainer certification.
  • Continuous Improvement qualification.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, typically within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in setting up and performing electrical/electronic tests on LV and/or HV systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in diagnosing faults on control systems.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Additional experience supporting electrical engineering functions within fast-paced production environments.
