As a member of the Electrical Design Team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating functional and robust electrical systems for a diverse range of GSE products.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical circuit schematics, harnesses, and panel layouts in line with internal standards, industry regulations, and legislative requirements.
- Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation including design specifications, work instructions, parts lists, and critical component information.
- Conduct engineering simulations, validation procedures, and system analyses to guide design decisions and specify electrical/electronic components.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams (engineering, production, procurement, etc.) to ensure design feasibility and a right first time approach.
- Develop electrical solutions by analysing customer requirements, researching components, and determining integration requirements for full system functionality.
- Collaborate with PLC Software Engineers to support the development of control strategies for powertrain and driveline systems.
- Contribute to ongoing product development projects, including adding new products and enhancing existing ranges.
- Assure product quality through design validation and electrical testing of completed systems and components.
- Apply a sound understanding of safety-critical systems within electrical and electronic design work.
- Provide engineering support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance aligned with internal standards.
- Maintain compliance with all regulations, company policies, and quality management systems (ISO 9001).
- Support continuous improvement, problem-solving, and process optimisation activities.
- Perform any other duties as required to support business needs.
Role Requirements:
- HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering OR relevant engineering industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a similar electrical design role.
- Proficient in schematic design using recognised software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or EPLAN.
- Experience with electrified powertrain systems or off-road electrical systems.
- Strong ability to read and produce detailed electrical drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical regulations, standards, and design principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical drawing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
- Experience drafting to electrical standards.
