Role Overview
Reporting to the Managing Director and the Board, this role is responsible for devising, implementing, and continually reviewing a detailed Strategic Sales Plan aligned to the objectives set by the Board, in order to achieve the company's sales growth plan for UK Trade.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Set and review sales targets and conversion rates for the sales teams, monitoring performance and achievement of targets through regular reviews and reporting to the Board.
- Maximise and grow market share within the relevant industry, developing the customer base across the UK and Ireland.
- Develop and continually review a detailed Strategic Sales Plan in line with Board objectives.
Account & Customer Management
- Work closely with the Key Accounts Manager to develop and grow top-spending accounts.
- Give feedback to the Customer Services team from the market and work closely with this team to develop and improve processes and practices, ensuring the business is known for quality of service within the industry.
Product & Pricing Strategy
- Work closely with wider internal teams to provide strategic input into the sales and pricing aspects of new product launches.
- Determine pricing strategies and models for particular products and customers according to agreed terms, and communicate these to the sales team.
- Develop in-depth product knowledge to increase brand value proposition and credibility with the customer base.
- Build extensive competitor knowledge and insight into industry developments to ensure a highly competitive product offering.
Team Leadership
- Cultivate and provide strong leadership, direction, mentoring, and motivation to the sales teams to enable them to develop their customer base and achieve targets.
- Periodically accompany the Area Sales Team on customer visits, providing feedback and support.
- Drive the sales team to maximise use of the CRM and internal systems to their full potential.
Group Collaboration
- Work closely with and establish relationships with companies within the wider group.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- A structured and professional sales individual with a proven track record of delivering results in a business with a minimum of Β£70m turnover.
- Demonstrable experience providing leadership, direction, and motivation to a sales team, resulting in increased sales and development of the customer base.
- Experience creating strategic sales plans and targets, and monitoring and analysing these to achieve results.
- A strong background in product sales, with a highly pro-active, results-driven approach and strong commercial sales acumen.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the UK and Ireland.
- Full, clean driving licence.
