We are seeking a values-driven, technically competent postgraduate Design Engineer with a strong interest in HVAC systems and renewable technologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-performance, energy-efficient and compliant building services solutions, while contributing to the development and expansion of our internal design capability.

Bell Plumbing Solutions provides a fully integrated turnkey HVAC design and technical consultancy service embedded in one of the fastest growing plumbing merchants in the West Midlands. We are a leading building services industry supplier of technical application of renewable heating and HVAC products. As demand for our solutions continues to grow, we are expanding our Technical Services Team to support strategic business development and enhanced customer capability. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a progressive and technically ambitious organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a solid understanding of the various HVAC products our company specify, which includes ‘The Unico System’ air conditioning, as well as various heat pump technologies, controls and system management products.
  • Provide a genuine desire to continuously learn and develop their personal understanding of new and existing technologies that deliver benefit to our customers.
  • Use design software and various manual solutions to develop and design HVAC systems proposed by the solutions team.
  • Liaise with our key suppliers, customers and industry associations to ensure full compliance with current UK building regulations, CIBSE and SAP assessments.
  • Help select and source appropriate design software and project management tools.
  • Provide technical support and documentation for our associated products and training facilities.
  • Ensure that all our products and services meet health and safety requirements, UK building regulations and environmental legislation.
  • Liaise with heating engineers, plumbers, electricians, surveyors, architects and other construction professionals.
  • Provide input to company presentations, reports & supporting documentation.
  • You may be required to perform other duties that may be reasonably expected of you within the company. Amendments may be made to your job description from time to time in relation to our changing needs and your own ability.
Qualifications and / or training required
  • Building services or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • AutoCAD Design (nice to have).
  • Accredited or association with an appropriate professional body, such as CIBSE or CIPHE.
  • Industry-related work experience would be a benefit but not essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to continuous personal development.
  • Excellent people and time management skills.
  • The ability to work well both as part of a team and on your own.
  • Strong technical drawing skills.
  • Good IT skills and a familiarity with industry-specific software and modelling programmes.
