Lucy Legal LLP is a forward-thinking law firm where Banking & Finance expertise meets genuine commercial pragmatism. We advise clients on complex secured lending, acquisition finance, and structured products—work that demands precision, commercial insight, and an understanding of how money actually moves through a business. Our reputation is built on delivering intelligent, practical advice, and our internal operations reflect that same ethos.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal financial leadership role at a firm that genuinely values the infrastructure behind great legal advice. As Legal Finance Manager, you won't be siloed in the back office—you'll be a trusted commercial partner to our Partners and Banking & Finance team, translating financial data into strategic decisions that shape how the firm grows. Working part-time, you'll have the autonomy to structure your week around the role's demands, without the pressure of a full-time grind. This role suits someone who wants meaningful responsibility without the nine-to-five convention.
Day-to-day, you'll own our financial heartbeat: preparing management accounts that the Partners genuinely rely on, running a tight ship on client money compliance (SRA Accounts Rules are your bread and butter), and managing our cashiers and finance team with a light touch and clear direction. You'll work closely with the Banking & Finance partners on work-in-progress monitoring and billing cycles—understanding which deals are in flight and how cash flows through the firm. You'll oversee bank reconciliations, manage our Practice Management System, and keep our external auditors moving through their annual sign-off with minimal friction. This isn't abstract accounting; it's finance that directly impacts client service and partner profitability.
The ideal candidate combines technical rigour with commercial common sense. You'll hold a full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or be a seasoned legal finance professional with ILFM credentials. You'll have spent at least three to five years managing finances in a law firm or professional services environment, and you'll know the SRA Accounts Rules inside out—not as a compliance checkbox, but as something you navigate with genuine confidence. Your Excel skills are sharp, and you're comfortable with legal accounting software (LexisNexis Enterprise, SOS Connect, LEAP, or similar).
This is a career move for someone who wants to be genuinely valued, not just another budget-holder. You'll develop real influence over how the firm operates financially, work with intelligent people across Banking & Finance, and have the flexibility to manage your own schedule. We're investing in someone who can grow with us.
