Lucy Legal LLP is a forward-thinking, client-centred legal practice committed to delivering sophisticated employment law advice to businesses and individuals navigating one of the most complex and fast-moving areas of UK law. We pride ourselves on combining technical rigour with genuine commercial understanding, helping our clients anticipate risks, resolve disputes, and build sustainable employment practices.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team where your work directly shapes how organisations manage their people and, conversely, how individuals assert their rights in the workplace. We are seeking an Employment Solicitor with 2+ years' post-qualification experience to manage a portfolio of contentious and non-contentious employment matters on a part-time basis. This role offers genuine flexibility without compromise on the quality or complexity of work you'll handle.

You'll work from our Chelsea office, embedded in a supportive environment where senior lawyers actively mentor their colleagues and where your voice is heard in strategy discussions. Whether you're advising on unfair dismissal claims, drafting settlement agreements, navigating redundancy consultation, or guiding employers through tribunal procedures, you'll be at the sharp end of meaningful, outcome-driven legal work.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will span the full breadth of employment law. You'll conduct detailed client consultations—sometimes with anxious employees, sometimes with in-house HR teams—distilling complex contractual or statutory rights into clear, actionable advice. You'll prepare robust pleadings and grounds of resistance for tribunal claims, build compelling witness statements, and represent clients at Employment Tribunal hearings or instruct senior counsel for appeals.

You'll manage application deadlines with meticulous attention (Employment Tribunal rules wait for no one), review settlement documentation, and advise on compliance issues ranging from TUPE transfers to protected disclosures. You'll maintain contemporaneous case management records and ensure every file meets SRA requirements. Throughout, you'll stay abreast of the shifting landscape of employment law—recent tribunal judgments, statutory amendments, and evolving case law around discrimination, dismissal, and whistle-blowing.

Career progression at Lucy Legal LLP is genuine and transparent. We actively develop solicitors toward Senior Associate and Partnership level, with regular feedback, training opportunities, and exposure to increasingly complex mandates. Part-time working does not slow this trajectory; we recognise that excellent lawyers work in different patterns, and we reward capability and client impact accordingly. You'll benefit from our investment in your professional development, including support for continuing legal education, networking within employment law circles, and mentoring that extends beyond your immediate caseload.
