Following the award of several new contracts in Northern Ireland, we have a vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. These positions can be based in either our BELFAST or COOKSTOWN office. Bell Contracts & Co Ltd are a professional construction company which operates throughout the UK and Ireland. We provide construction, property redevelopment and refurbishment services across various sectors.
Responsibilities
- Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements.
- Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
- Complete monthly subcontractor valuations through to final account.
- Complete monthly valuations to PQS and record all additional works items.
- Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis.
- Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates.
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales.
- Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome.
- Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings.
- Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings.
Candidate
- Ideally have Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will also be considered for the role.
- Experience in Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years.
- Be articulate, pro-active with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills and comfortable working with minimum supervision.
- Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.
The candidate will have access to a company vehicle and be provided with a full Health Care Package.
