Following the award of several new contracts in Northern Ireland, we have a vacancy's for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. These position can be based in either our BELFAST OR COOKSTOWN office.
Bell Contracts & Co Ltd are a professional construction company which operates throughout the UK and Ireland. We provide construction, property redevelopment and refurbishment services across various sectors.
Responsibilities
- Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements
- Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded
- Complete monthly sub contractor valuations through to final account
- Complete monthly valuations to PQS and record all additional works items
- Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis
- Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales
- Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome
- Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings
- Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings
Candidate
- Ideally have Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will also be considered for the role
- Experience in Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years
- Be articulate, pro-active with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills and comfortable working with minimum supervision
- Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft packages including outlook, word, excel and project
