My client is a well-known construction business. Sitting in the Civil Engineering side of the business there is a need for an Estimator. We're looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join our pre-construction team, with a strong track record in bulk earthworks and civil engineering estimating. You'll be responsible for pricing complex tenders from first principles and supporting the bid process from enquiry to submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for civils and bulk earthworks projects (labour, plant, materials, subcontractor packages)
- Review technical drawings, specifications and scope of works
- Conduct site inspections and risk assessments
- Issue and analyse enquiries to supply chain partners
- Produce Bills of Quantities (BoQ), take-offs and tender documentation
- Work with project delivery, planning and commercial teams to inform bid strategy
- Present estimates and commercially justify assumptions
About You
- Proven experience as a civil engineering estimator, preferably within bulk earthworks/groundworks
- Strong first-principles pricing and quantification skills
- Excellent knowledge of civil construction methods and market rates
- Proficient in estimating software and MS Excel
- Strong commercial awareness, accuracy and organisational skills
- HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent
