We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Engineer to join our refurbishment team at our site in Golborne.
As part of the warehouse team, you will work in our furniture refurbishment centre, where operatives and engineers collaborate to evaluate, repair, and restore furniture of various types.
The successful candidate will ensure products meet high standards, readying them for resale.
This role requires hands-on expertise in furniture restoration, including upholstered, flat-packed, and fully constructed pieces.
A background or keen interest in furniture refurbishment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and evaluate damages to furniture and assign appropriate grades based on our grading guide.
- Restore and refurbish all types of furniture, including upholstered (leather and fabric), flat-pack, wooden, dining, and bedroom furniture.
- Address issues such as structural damage, cosmetic blemishes, missing components, and upholstery wear or tears.
- Perform complex repairs like frame reinforcement, joint fixing, sanding, refinishing, and reupholstering.
- Accurately record product details in cloud-based spreadsheets and verify pre-existing information.
- Wrap and pack restored items for transport, ensuring they meet delivery and resale standards.
- Follow standard operating procedures to meet daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets.
- Adhere to safety policies and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skills
- Proven ability to repair and refurbish furniture in any of the following categories: upholstered, wooden, flat-pack, dining, or bedroom.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, such as drills, sanders, staple guns, and upholstery tools.
- Familiarity with materials used in furniture manufacturing, including fabrics, leather, wood, and composite materials.
- Attention to Detail
- Meticulous approach to assessing and grading furniture for resale.
- Ability to identify and address even minor defects that could impact resale value.
- Physical Skills
- Manual handling expertise for moving and assembling furniture components safely and efficiently.
- Organisational Skills
- Excellent time management to balance repair tasks with grading, packaging, and data entry.
- Strong teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This is a permanent full time role that offers benefits and a learning curve. Based in Golbourne - 40hrs a week Monday - Friday
