We are seeking a Waking Night Support Worker to join our team on a 42-hour-per-week contract, working a rotating schedule of three shifts one week and four shifts the next. The role requires availability on weekends and bank holidays. The role may require sleep ins and 12 hour shifts.

About You

The successful candidate will provide support to individuals in a variety of settings and will be responsible for supporting people to live their best life. In this role, you will provide support to individuals in various settings, focusing on empowering them to live fulfilling lives. You will work closely with individuals, their social worker, and other allied professionals to deliver personalised support that addresses their specific needs. The ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain professional boundaries will be crucial in providing high-quality, person-centred care. Understanding the significance of fostering trust and meaningful relationships, actively listening, and being flexible in your approach will be essential. The Team
You will be part of a bespoke team supporting a young person within his own home. You will support him as part of a team that works together in ways that are led by the individual's needs. Paul is a calm and thoughtful young person who responds best to individuals who are observant, patient, and creative in their approach. It is important that you are able to read and respond to non-verbal cues – such as body language, facial expressions, or changes in behaviour. Paul has a strong love for books and enjoys when staff share their own passions, even if he prefers to listen rather than join in. He finds comfort in outdoor activities and familiar local places, and with the right support, he’s open to exploring new experiences. This involves introducing new activities gradually, breaking them down into bite-sized steps, allowing time for reflection, asking questions, and offering gentle encouragement without pressure. An understanding of learning disabilities and autism is beneficial, though full training and support will be provided. You’ll be part of a wider, supportive team, helping Paul achieve his personal goals at a pace that works for him. This role requires empathy, compassion, resilience, problem-solving skills, respect for professional boundaries, and a commitment to improving the lives of people we support. Most importantly, a genuine passion for working with and supporting people is essential, along with a desire to be an advocate for individuals with learning difficulties and mental health support needs.
