We are looking for a Director, Networks and AI to join Liberty Global in London.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of network strategy and AI adoption across Liberty Global's telecommunications businesses. Working with operating companies and central teams, you will drive the development of network and AI strategies, technology roadmaps and governance frameworks that support service quality, network performance and operational excellence.

You will play a key role in identifying high value opportunities for AI across network planning, operations and assurance, ensuring solutions are implemented safely, responsibly and at scale. Working closely with senior stakeholders across technology, security, data, procurement, legal and regulatory teams, you will help establish consistent standards, encourage collaboration and deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.

What you will be doing

  • Develop network and AI strategy, architecture principles and technology roadmaps in partnership with senior leaders and operating companies.
  • Establish and lead governance frameworks that ensure the highest value network and AI initiatives are identified, prioritised and implemented.
  • Lead the integration of AI and machine learning into network planning, operations, optimisation and maintenance.
  • Identify, assess and scale AI use cases that improve network performance, incident response, capacity planning and operational effectiveness.
  • Shape a safe and governed approach to AI adoption, ensuring appropriate ownership, auditability, human oversight and production controls.
  • Partner with Security, Data and AI governance teams to manage risks associated with AI deployment.
  • Evaluate technology partners and vendor capabilities, supporting informed investment and technology decisions.
  • Build strong partnerships across operating companies and central teams to promote consistent standards and ways of working.

We tend to look for people with

Essential

  • Experience applying AI, machine learning or AIOps within network planning, engineering or operations in a telecommunications environment.
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture, including 5G standalone, radio access networks and AI enabled network operations.
  • Understanding of AI governance, model lifecycle management, telemetry, data pipelines and production deployment practices.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience defining technical standards and supporting adoption across multiple business entities.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Inclusive leadership approach with the ability to work effectively across different teams, countries and cultures.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing business priorities.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with AI observability, model evaluation and agent tracing tools.
  • Experience working with hyperscaler AI platforms, model gateways or AI guardrail solutions.
  • Experience supporting network transformation or large scale technology programmes.
  • Commercial understanding of broadband, mobile and digital communications markets.

Preferred education and qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional certifications or continued learning in AI, machine learning, MLOps or AI safety.
