Belier is looking for a highly analytical, organised and hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function within our fast-growing e-commerce and wholesale business.

This is a broad role for someone who is comfortable managing everything from monthly management accounts, P&L and cash-flow reporting through to invoicing, credit control, payroll, supplier payments and financial analysis.

You will work closely with our external accountants and CFO, ensuring all financial records are accurate, reconciled and prepared for VAT, year-end accounts and statutory reporting.

The Role

You will take ownership of the accuracy and day-to-day management of Belier's financial information, providing the management team with clear visibility over revenue, profitability, cash flow, costs and financial performance.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-moving business. We're looking for someone who can manage the detail while also understanding the bigger commercial picture and using financial data to support better business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and management accounts.
  • Analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key variances and trends.
  • Maintain accurate short and medium-term cash-flow forecasts.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Raise and process customer invoices and proactively manage credit control and overdue accounts.
  • Process supplier invoices, reconcile statements and prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, deductions and pensions.
  • Maintain accurate reconciliations across bank accounts, Xero and other financial systems.
  • Reconcile Shopify, payment gateways and e-commerce revenue into Xero.
  • Analyse revenue, gross margin, costs and profitability across channels, customers and product categories.
  • Monitor expenditure and identify financial risks, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support management with budgets, forecasts and commercial financial analysis.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and approval processes.
  • Work closely with our external accountants, preparing accurate financial information and supporting schedules for VAT returns, company accounts and statutory filings.
  • Maintain a clear financial calendar and ensure all internal reporting and payment deadlines are met.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, analytical, commercially minded and confident taking ownership of a busy finance function.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong experience preparing management accounts, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Xero.
  • Experience within a fast-growth e-commerce, retail, fashion or consumer business.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
  • Experience preparing and processing payroll.
  • Strong cash-flow management and forecasting skills.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Experience with Shopify and online payment platforms would be highly advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.

ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications are advantageous but not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who are qualified by experience and can demonstrate a strong relevant track record.

What You're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can own the numbers.

Someone who ensures the underlying financial information is accurate, but can also analyse it, understand what is driving performance and provide management with clear financial visibility as the business continues to grow.

You'll need to be comfortable with the pace of a growing e-commerce business and willing to move between detailed financial administration and higher-level commercial analysis.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to take ownership of the finance function within an ambitious, fast-growing fashion business and play an important role in supporting its continued growth.
