As a HGV driver in the insulation and drylining industry, you are responsible for the safe and timely transportation of insulation and drylining materials to various construction sites and customer homes. You play a pivotal role in ensuring that the necessary materials arrive in perfect condition and meet the construction timelines. Your knowledge of industry‑specific products, combined with your class 2 HGV driving skills, ensures that the projects are executed efficiently.
Job Responsibilities:
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles, ensuring all cargo is secure and transportation regulations are adhered to.
- Load and unload insulation and drylining materials, ensuring products are not damaged during transportation.
- Coordinate with the dispatch/sales team and site managers to schedule pick‑ups and deliveries.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness, reporting any maintenance needs immediately.
- Keep accurate records of cargo, mileage, fuel consumption, and other necessary documentation.
- Familiarise oneself with various insulation and drylining products to ensure proper handling and delivery.
- Navigate routes effectively, making adjustments for traffic or construction as needed.
- Maintain open communication with dispatch, sales and construction teams, providing updates on delivery status and potential delays.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, both on the road and at the construction site.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing any concerns or issues from construction teams or clients promptly.
Job Requirements:
- A valid HGV driving qualification C, digital tachograph card and driver CPC card.
- Experience in the insulation and drylining industry or familiarity with construction materials is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of road safety and transportation regulations.
- Physical ability to load and unload heavy materials.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- A team player and can also work using their own initiative.
- The driver needs to be health and safety aware.
- Any other duty reasonably requested by management.
- Report all vehicle/driver incidents, accidents, offences and fines to the transport manager on duty.
- To attend all mandatory and essential training for the role of a HGV driver.
