There are currently two permanent, full-time posts. One vacancy is in the Property and Projects Department and the other is in the Legal and Civic Services Department.

You will be responsible to the Executive Support Officer for assisting in the provision of the full range of executive support duties to the Director and wider departmental management team (DMT) supporting the delivery of strategic and operational objectives and expediting priority actions in a timely and effective manner.

You will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including elected members, MLAs, chief officers, senior council managers, senior representatives of outside bodies on behalf of the Director and wider departmental management team (DMT), as required.

You will ensure that all tasks are carried out professionally, on behalf of the Director, to agreed quality and time targets.

About the department

The Property and Projects Departmentoverseesthe council’s capital investment programmes, which include more than200 live projects valued at over £200 million.

Key responsibilities include

  • Project Management Unit– Operating the Portfolio Office, ensuring the effective delivery of capital projects.
  • Estates Management Unit– Managing council land, property assets, andinvestment portfolios, supporting urban regeneration.
  • Programme Delivery Unit – Leading the design, construction, and delivery ofphysical regeneration projects.
  • Property Maintenance Unit– Ensuring council buildings remainlegally compliant, safe, and fit for purpose.

This department plays apivotal role in shaping Belfast’s built environment, ensuring council assets arestrategically developed and maintainedto support the city’s growth.
