City & Neighbourhood Services Department

There is currently one permanent, full-time post. You will report to the Business Co-ordinator, having day to day responsibility for the management, training and development and allocation of the workload of assigned business administration staff and to ensure that high standards of service delivery are maintained through their motivation and management. You will provide a comprehensive administrative role for the service, including providing support for new and evolving areas of work and to meet service and unit objectives. You will undertake all duties of the post in accordance with agreed time and quality targets. You will fully participate in the council’s performance management framework. You will represent the Business Co-ordinator in the post-holder’s sphere of responsibility when required.

About the department: With over 1,400 staff, the City and Neighbourhood Services Department delivers frontline services essential to the daily lives of Belfast residents. This includes:

  • Open Space & Street Scene – Managing parks, green spaces, and street cleansing operations.
  • Neighbourhood Development & Regeneration – Overseeing community centres, health and wellbeing initiatives, active living, and community safety.
  • Regulatory & City Services – Providing environmental health services, dog and pest control, port health, emergency planning, and bereavement services.
  • Strategic Waste Management – Leading waste collection, recycling, and fleet management.
