This is an exciting opportunity for a person wishing to develop their career in the building construction industry; as Project Engineer, the successful candidate will be part of a high performing team building Belfast International Airport's future infrastructure. This represents an excellent opportunity for exposure to an international network of professionals and businesses. The successful candidate will play a key role in the airport's future, supporting the planning and execution of strategically important projects within a live airport operational environment. These projects include building extensions, reconfigurations, repairs and upgrades in airside and landside environments.
Job Purpose
The job holder will primarily be responsible for supervising and planning works in order to achieve any prescribed Key Performance Indicators in relation to Programme, Quality, Safety, Environment and Budget.
Main Duties
- Deliver front-line management and supervision of works in line with the Project Manager's direction.
- Support the Project Manager with the logistical, technical and commercial management of the project(s) to meet the overall business objectives.
- Support the Projects Team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of projects to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Responsible as the day-to-day point of contact for contractors and facilitate communication between airport departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors.
- Contribute and work to the development and maintenance of a culture of excellent health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect airport operations through the project/programme lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively with the Projects Team to deliver the assigned project to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role.
- Positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with the project.
- Play an active part in lessons identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
- Troubleshooting in conjunction with airport departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors.
- Ability to work flexible hours to facilitate any out of hours activity as and when required.
- Ensure that all Statutory and Company regulations regarding health and safety, fire and security are followed.
- Uphold the company's information security policies and procedures.
- Respond/assist to any emergency appropriately, and participate in any Emergency Exercise.
- Understand the company vision and pro-actively engage in its values through the Performance and Development Programme.
