The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of colleagues, the security of facilities, and the integrity of operations across the entire airport platform. This role ensures regulatory compliance with UK Health and Safety (HSE) legislation, leads the Safety Management System (SMS), and manages preventative and emergency response provisions. The jobholder will play a critical role in fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation in line with company vision and values. They will also work closely and collaboratively with other individuals and key departments within the organization to promote high standards in terms of Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Management System (SMS) Leadership: Develop, implement, maintain, and champion the airport's Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring full compliance with national and international regulatory standards.
- Risk Assessment and Prevention: Identify, assess, and prioritise occupational risks specific to the airport environment. Oversee the development and regular review of comprehensive Risk Assessments, implementing associated preventative measures.
- Audits, Inspections, and Monitoring: Establish a H&S audit programme for third parties operating on Company premises to identify and control risks and encourage the development of sound H&S practices.
- Training and Awareness: Develop a Company Health & Safety Training Programme and actively deliver or arrange specialist Health & Safety training courses for employees where appropriate.
- General: Uphold the company’s information security policies and procedures, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data.
