About the Belfast International Airport Constabulary

The Belfast International Airport Constabulary (BIAC) is a specialist policing service responsible for maintaining safety, security, and public order within Belfast International Airport. BIAC works in close partnership with airport stakeholders, other law enforcement agencies, and government departments to ensure the policing of Northern Ireland’s principal airport.

Job Purpose

  • Provide Belfast International Airport (BIA) with effective, efficient and professional police services.
  • Preserve life and protect property whilst providing a safe and secure environment.
  • Community policing to all airport users, developing relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to promote law and order, reduce fear of crime, provide reassurance and build confidence to improve the airport environment.
  • Use lawful powers to maintain law and order.
  • Gather evidence and report offenders, where appropriate, to the Public Prosecution Service.
  • Bear responsibility for making autonomous decisions in accordance with the National Decision Model and Code of Ethics, exercising professional discretion in line with legal frameworks and policy guidelines.
  • Ensure all actions are taken in a legal, balanced, proportional and justifiable manner to uphold the law thus achieving the best outcome in a wide variety of situations.
