Belfast Health and Social Care Trust is now recruiting for Senior Social Workers to join their Children’s Community Services Team.
Band: 7
Reports to: Principal Social Worker
Responsible to: Director of Social Work, Children’s Community Services
Job Summary
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the direct delivery of quality Children in Need, Safeguarding and Looked After Children services to children and families. You will lead a team which may include Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Social Care and administrative staff. You will also be responsible for team development, quality assurance and provision of high-quality team management information.
Essential Criteria
- Hold a recognised Professional qualification in social work.
- Have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience in Family and Childcare.
- Hold current NISCC registration or be eligible for registration with the NISCC.
- Have Current Registration with one of the Social Care Regulatory Bodies in England, Scotland or Wales and is eligible to register with NISCC.
- Before taking up appointment applicants must have secured Registration with NISCC on the Social Work Part of the Register.
- Hold a full current driving license valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
- Experience in the use of IT including at least one of the core packages i.e. Outlook (Email), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PARIS, ECR.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
- The ability to work in partnership with staff within and outside the programme of care.
- Effective planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise own workload.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the provision of high quality and safe services with an ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Commitment to contribute to the learning and development of staff, colleagues and students.
*Evidence of experience of working with children and families gained in programmes of care other than the Family and Child Care Programme may also be submitted.
Desirable Criteria
- Have achieved or give a commitment to achieve an award in social work within the Northern Ireland PQ Framework and linked to the service area and post, within 3 years of appointment to the post.
- Experience of the supervisory process.
- Leadership qualities and skills in managing social work professionals.
- Experience in delivering objectives which have led to a significant Improvement in Service.
- Experience in working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders in a role which has contributed to the successful implementation of a significant change initiative.
- Ability to effectively manage and provide effective leadership to a team.
