This role involves working within the Port Operational team to co-ordinate the efficient and safe planning of port operational services, whilst also providing administrative support with a primary focus on maintaining the Safety Management Systems for Port Operations Marine and Land based activities.
The key functions of the role will be to interface with:
- external customers and internal departments to plan and process shipping movements, utilising the Port Marine Information System (PMIS) to produce forecasts and plans for the allocation of port services and facilities.
- the Compliance H&S, Operations Engineering and Civil and Marine departments to ensure a cohesive approach to safety administration to assist with continual systems and cultural improvement.
This is a varied role which involves ensuring safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the port, all the marine and operations compliance administration is completed, and the SMS runs effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Ship Planning: Co-ordinate the collation, review and monitoring of operational information to produce daily shipping/operations forecast plan via the PMIS. Liaise with port customers to determine service requirements and co-ordinate across a multidisciplinary team to achieve the safe and efficient provision of such services and facilities.
- Safety and Systems Administration: The department focal point for creating, completing, reviewing and communicating Task Risk Assessments and SOPS. Including co-ordinating the update and maintenance of SOP's, RA, and all other policies and procedures to ensure the SMS and other port operational systems are up to date. Support internal and external Audit processes.
- Marine Safety: Coordinate department activities to control the issue of procedures, SOP documentation and navigational risk assessments PEC, TEC and Marine license administration.
- Knowledge of Safety Management systems, policies and procedures in connection with Safety administration in a busy operational environment.
- Good interpersonal skills and a professional approach.
- Good organisational and analytical skills with an excellent eye for detail.
- Experience of managing External Customer and Internal stakeholder expectations.
- Marine experience within shipping or ports industry.
- Previous administration experience in a busy environment.
- NEBOSH General certificate in H&S.
