The purpose of this part-time, seasonal Cruise Operations Co-ordinator role is to support the safe and efficient delivery of cruise operations at Belfast Harbour (BHC). The role will assist in the preparation of cruise risk assessments and the development of appropriate safe systems of work. The successful candidate will provide on-site co-ordination of cruise operations on behalf of BHC in advance of vessel arrivals and while vessels are alongside. The role will also involve conducting regular audits and reporting on cruise operations using the Cruise Vessel Audit Checklist and Risk Assessment forms, reviewing quay operations for safety compliance, and liaising with on-site security and other operational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact Port Control to obtain wind speed for completion of the risk assessment form.
- Check Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) integrity and ensure ISPS signage is compliant with Office for Transport Security requirements in terms of placement; report any non-compliance to the Duty Police.
- Assist with placement of directional signage within the TRA, marquee and surrounding areas.
- Ensure area presentation and housekeeping are maintained to required standards, including visual inspection of the marquee, quayside and toilet facilities; report issues to the relevant department for resolution.
- Liaise with the Facilities Team regarding placement of pedestrian barriers within the TRA and gangway positioning in accordance with berthing and area plans.
- Once the vessel is alongside, liaise with the Ship's Safety Officer, mooring team and stevedores to instruct and oversee positioning of the gangway.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics.
- Hold a full current Category B driving licence for a manual car.
- Minimum of three years' employment within the last five years, at least two of which must be continuous, in a responsible role.
- Applicants are required to have an appropriate level of computer literacy in order to effectively perform the role.
