Provide support within the Commercial team, including responding to customer requirements, market research, and interpreting and analysing data to produce management information.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering and preparing statistical data, market analysis, and management information to the Port Commercial Manager for BHC Board reports, customer meetings, and business planning purposes.
- Support the commercial analyst with routine commercial and operational tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Commercial department. These activities include:
- Assisting with monitoring and updating information related to the BHC's electricity resale business.
- Preparing and issuing invoice instructions as appropriate to the Finance Department for storage charges, electricity and other commercial activities.
- Liaising with credit control to ensure the timely receipt of payments.
- Maintain organised legal and customer documentation and ensure records are stored in line with internal processes.
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of the online property management system, ensuring information is accurate as used for customer billing.
- Providing a proactive customer service to port users, stakeholders and other BHC departments, responding to requirements and resolving issues appropriately.
Essential Criteria
- Degree/equivalent level qualification or extensive experience, preference given to candidates showing development of numeracy skills.
- Experience of planning, organising and prioritising a busy workload, and working to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure, without supervision and using own initiative.
- Experience of communicating with a wide range of people; excellent communication skills.
- Collaborative attitude to working as part of the commercial team and other departments to achieve excellent customer service.
- Proficient in use of all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Full Driving Licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a similar business support role in a busy commercial enterprise.
- Degree level qualification, preferably in a subject developing numeracy skills or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in a role that requires the management of specific and sometimes complex tasks involving specific research projects and the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data and report writing.
- Demonstrable research and analytical skills.
- Experience using Power Bi to analyse, visualise or present data.
