Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Unit Inspector to support a major oil and gas operation based in Southampton. This is a fully site-based contract role within a highly regulated industrial environment, offering the opportunity to lead and coordinate inspection activities across a complex operational unit.
In this position, you will be responsible for delivering inspection and mechanical integrity activities in line with defined equipment strategies and global inspection practices. You will lead and coordinate visual, NDT and AMP-related inspections, ensuring inspection scopes are practical, cost-effective and aligned with operational priorities. The role involves reviewing inspection findings, maintaining inspection records, raising repair recommendations, and escalating any high-risk equipment integrity concerns to engineering leadership to support safe and reliable plant operation.
You will work closely with engineering, operations, maintenance teams and third-party inspection providers, supporting inspection planning, execution and quality assurance. This role will suit a candidate with strong experience in oil and gas or similar heavy process industries who is confident operating in a leadership inspection role within a fully site-based environment.
Essential requirements include:
- Strong experience leading inspection activities on fixed equipment and pressure systems
- In-depth knowledge of NDT techniques, engineering materials, fabrication and welding
- Familiarity with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
- Relevant qualification such as HNC or ONC, with a minimum of five years' experience
- Ability to coordinate inspection resources and manage inspection worklists
