Senior Stress Engineer – Glasgow
Are you a Stress Engineer driven by the challenge of ensuring the safety and performance of gas turbines?
Do you want to work on cutting-edge aeroengine technology that’s shaping the future of aviation?
Belcan is looking for two Senior Stress Engineers to join our Glasgow-based team. You’ll be at the forefront of structural integrity analysis for rotating components in gas turbines—critical work that supports the design and certification of high-performance aeroengine parts under extreme conditions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Conducting detailed stress analysis (static, fatigue, creep, vibration) on rotatives like discs, shafts, and blades.
- Using FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS) and classical hand calculations to validate designs.
- Supporting lifing assessments and damage tolerance evaluations to meet FAR/EASA standards.
- Collaborating with design, materials, and manufacturing teams to optimise performance.
- Preparing and presenting technical reports to internal teams and airworthiness authorities.
What You’ll Bring:
- A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong experience in FEA , fatigue/fracture mechanics, and high-temperature materials.
- Familiarity with aeroengine lifing methodologies and service data.
- A passion for solving complex engineering challenges in a high-performance environment.
