Belcan's growing Marine division is seeking experienced Detail Design Engineers (Mid-Senior Level) to support the delivery of complex naval defence and shipbuilding programmes across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a Detail Design Engineer to work on cutting-edge marine projects, contributing to the design and integration of critical systems for next-generation naval vessels. Whether you're an experienced Detail Design Engineer in Structural, Electrical, or Outfit disciplines, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering designs for marine structures and systems using FORAN software.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality engineering models and drawings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure effective system integration.
  • Support design reviews and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Deliver designs in line with project requirements and industry standards.

Engineering Disciplines:

  • Structural Engineering: Bulkhead and deck design. Shell modelling and nesting. FEA, lifting and turning calculations.
  • Electrical Engineering: Electrical system and component design. Cable routing and segregation. Load calculations and schematic analysis.
  • Outfit Engineering: Compartment arrangements and equipment integration. Access and escape systems. Insulation, coatings and deck covering specifications.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Detail Design Engineer within marine, defence, naval, or related industries.
  • Strong 3D CAD design capability.
  • Ability to develop detailed engineering solutions using FORAN.
  • Naval ship design experience preferred.
