Metallurgist Materials Engineer Job location: Lincoln – Hybrid Contract : Long term – Outside IR35 Our Client is an Energy technology company and are seeking a experienced Metallurgist – Materials Engineer preferably with a gas turbine background. This is a long-term contract outside IR35 and is to be a hybrid role with 2 to 3 days a week on site based in East Midlands. Our client has 150-year legacy of innovation and will focus on energy transformation, new technologies, decarbonization and Innovative leading-edge technology. Role Profile : Manufacturing Support Metallurgist / Materials Engineer Working in busy metallurgical laboratory, supporting the client business with accurate materials advice to ensure that their products are reliable and cost effective. Providing expert knowledge for manufacturing processes typically used in the aerospace/industrial gas-turbine sector. Tasks As a Metallurgist or Materials Engineer you will provide general metallurgical support for gas turbine engine components. This includes support to suppliers, sourcing, quality, manufacturing and engineering Duties will include- the undertaking of metallurgical investigations, data gathering and advising on disposition of non-conforming material, approval of special process data cards and validation of components, review of engineering drawings, expert advice for material selection and manufacturing processes to ensure the highest possible quality is maintained. Experience The selected candidate will be a practical, hands on, with metallurgical preparation and evaluation proficiency. Special process knowledge in one or more of the following areas, for a variety of components closely associated with gas turbine manufacture. Would be an advantage: if you have one or more of the following experience: Wrought material processing and forging. Precision casting or additive manufacture of nickel superalloys. Structural castings, either cast iron or steel. Machining – Conventional, EDM, laser and associated near surface metallurgy. Surface Engineering – Aluminising, Carburising, Nitriding, or conversion coatings. Metal joining – welding and vacuum brazing. Heat treatment – particularly vacuum furnaces.
