Our client is seeking a capable and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of engineering solutions across a varied portfolio of industrial projects. This is a hands-on contract role where you'll play a key part in ensuring engineering solutions are fit for purpose, compliant with design authority standards and delivered safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.
As a Mechanical Engineer you'll work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders, system engineers and contractors to turn functional requirements into robust engineering outcomes. You'll contribute to project planning activities, including execution plans, safety case strategies and commissioning approaches, while maintaining configuration control and adherence to quality standards throughout.
Key Responsibilities- Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs, support optioneering activities and develop concept designs and engineering solutions.
- Produce and approve technical specifications, manage detailed design activities and prepare modification proposals where required.
- Review contractor documentation, supervise construction or deconstruction activities, approve as-built drawings and support commissioning or decommissioning activities.
- Manage technical handover to operations, ensuring all documentation and training requirements are met, while maintaining strong engagement with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
You'll have experience working in a practising engineering role (Mechanical, Electrical, C&I or Civil) within an industrial environment, ideally with exposure to nuclear or large-scale conventional projects. You'll bring a strong understanding of engineering standards, safety rules, risk assessment methodologies and quality management systems. Experienced in contract management and project delivery. You'll hold an HNC, degree or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 5/6 or above) in a relevant engineering discipline. You will be a member of a recognised engineering institution. You will hold Chartered status.
