Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer – EC&I to support the delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated industrial environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong engineer to play a key role across the full project lifecycle, contributing to high‑profile, safety‑critical programmes.

The role involves identifying functional requirements and stakeholder needs, managing engineering support to projects, and contributing to Project Execution Plans, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategies. You will lead concept and detailed design activities, produce and approve technical specifications, and oversee contractors' design and construction activities. You will provide technical supervision during construction, commissioning, and decommissioning phases, approve as‑built documentation, and ensure smooth handover to operations. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will maintain configuration control, liaise with system engineers and stakeholders, and promote best practice in health, safety, environment, and quality. The role may also involve deputising for the Section Head, acting as Design Authority or intelligent customer when required, and supporting incident reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience in a practising engineering discipline (Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation, Mechanical or Civil) on industrial plant
  • Strong project engineering experience in nuclear and/or conventional environments
  • Sound knowledge of engineering standards, safety rules, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Working knowledge of CDM Designer responsibilities
  • Experience of contract management and project delivery
  • Understanding of site licence conditions and quality management systems

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent (NQF Level 5) minimum; degree level preferred
  • Membership of a relevant engineering institution
  • Chartered status (desirable)

BPSS clearance will be required so all applicants must be eligible.
