Belcan are looking for a Team Lead Stress Engineer based in either Derby or Glasgow. Are you an experienced Stress Engineer, used to leading teams of other Stress Engineers and want to work on new technology for Gas Turbines? The team leader will be the direct supervisor for the engineers assigned to their team with a strong focus on engineering delivery and quality, providing a focal for technical governance and support to the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed stress analysis (static, fatigue, creep, vibration) on rotatives such as discs, shafts, and blades.
- Utilize FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS) and classical hand calculations to validate designs.
- Support lifing assessments and damage tolerance evaluations in compliance with FAR/EASA certification standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in design, materials, and manufacturing to optimize component performance.
- Prepare and present technical documentation and stress reports for internal and external stakeholders, including airworthiness authorities.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on rotating machinery.
- Strong proficiency in FEA and fatigue/fracture mechanics.
- Familiarity with aeroengine lifing methodologies and service experience data.
- Experience with high-temperature materials and centrifugal stress analysis.
