Our Client, an Engineering company, is seeking an experienced C&I Engineer - Functional Safety for a permanent and contract position in Warrington. This role is placed within the Oil & Gas, Construction or highly regulated industry. We have both contract and staff positions available.
As a EC&I Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality Control & Instrumentation design across complex, multidiscipline EPCM and EPC projects. You will work on projects spanning the full lifecycle — from concept and FEED through detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning — and cover both greenfield and brownfield environments. The EC&I Engineer may lead C&I design for a single major project or manage a portfolio of diverse, multisector assignments, including Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Food.
Key Responsibilities:- Produces high quality Controls & Instrumentation engineering and design deliverables and supports the Lead Engineer in delivering designs on schedule.
- Participates in internal and external design reviews, presenting technical solutions.
- Coordinates C&I engineering activities with Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Process, Automation and ensures all C&I design outputs meet stringent quality expectations.
- Applies strong knowledge of Functional Safety (BS EN 61508/61511) throughout the design process.
- Contributes to construction, testing and commissioning activities as required to support successful project delivery (preferred).
The ideal candidate brings:
- Over 3 years of experience as a C&I Engineer within Engineering, EPCM or EPC environments.
- Strong technical expertise in C&I engineering and design, with a solid understanding of related disciplines such as Automation, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Piping and Process.
- A strong grasp of both Electrical and Instrumentation design, with the capability to lead in both areas.
- A degree in EC&I Engineering (MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc).
- A solid understanding of current British and International Standards.
- Proven knowledge of Functional Safety (BS EN 61508/61511).
