Our Client, a Global Engineering company, is seeking an NEC Commercial Manager. This role is placed within the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Power Station, Energy, Utilities, Construction, and highly regulated industry based in Hull for a permanent position.
The Commercial Manager will report directly to the Head of Commercial for Projects, Engineering, and Automation. You will be responsible for delivering top-tier contract controls and ensuring optimal P&L performance across multi-disciplinary projects. You will oversee the commercial and cost management of projects from inception to closeout, ensuring maximum efficiencies and full compliance with all client governance procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the financial performance and compliance of contracts.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, conduct audits, and implement commercial improvements.
- Establish controls to support financial deliverables and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with operations and project teams to oversee contract execution, budget management, and report preparation.
- Interface with various departments, including Business Managers, Invoicing, Accounts, Procurement, and Tendering, to gather start-up information and monitor financial performance.
- Familiarise yourself with contract terms, review invoices, assist in valuations, manage contract variations, and prepare cost/value reports.
- Set up cost control mechanisms, conduct audits, and provide feedback on KPI performance.
- Assist in claims preparation, contract renegotiations, and identifying areas for commercial improvement.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in EPC projects, NEC / NEC3 / NEC 4 contracts, and delivering Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Possess a valuable skillset for overseeing the commercial elements of construction projects, particularly those utilizing the NEC framework.
- Possess a finance degree or be working towards a recognised accounting qualification or have suitable relevant experience in a similar Commercial or Financial role.
- Commercial awareness, relationship builder, ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Knowledge/previous use of SAP.
