Location: Brize Norton - 100% onsite

Contract: Until June 2027 (likely extension)

Hours: 35 hours per week (4.5 days, flexible between 7am-7pm)

Rate: £32.00 per hour Umbrella / £23.92 per hour PAYE

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (to be completed prior to start)

The Role

Our client is seeking a Finance Assistant to support the planning, control, and financial steering of a UK-based operational entity. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and Financial Controller, providing analysis, insight, and day-to-day financial support to enable informed decision-making at management level.

You will play a key role in monitoring costs, forecasting, reporting, and ensuring financial accuracy across operational activities. This is a fully onsite role and would suit someone who enjoys working closely with senior finance stakeholders in a structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Financial Controller with operational cost analysis and control
  • Maintain cost, revenue, cashflow, and resource forecasts
  • Track actual costs and revenues, reviewing allocations and explaining variances
  • Assist with payroll accounting, billing, invoicing, and treasury processes
  • Support month-end activities including accruals, allocations, and reporting
  • Work with operational teams to forecast resources and cost impacts
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure accurate cost recognition and commitments
  • Produce cost centre reports, cashflow forecasts, and meaningful financial analysis
  • Support risk and opportunity tracking
  • Provide ad-hoc financial reporting to internal stakeholders and external bodies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and controls

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a finance support or assistant role
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, cashflow, and Profit & Loss
  • Experience producing cost centre reports and financial forecasts
  • Comfortable working with coding for procurement and cost allocation
  • Confident working closely with senior finance stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, MOD, or similarly regulated environments is desirable

Qualifications

  • AAT, CIMA (part-qualified), or similar would be advantageous but not essential
