Rate: £32.00 per hour Umbrella / £23.92 per hour PAYE

The Role
Our client is seeking a Finance Assistant to support the planning, control, and financial steering of a UK-based operational entity. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and Financial Controller, providing analysis, insight, and day-to-day financial support to enable informed decision-making at management level.
You will play a key role in monitoring costs, forecasting, reporting, and ensuring financial accuracy across operational activities. This is a fully onsite role and would suit someone who enjoys working closely with senior finance stakeholders in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Financial Controller with operational cost analysis and control
- Maintain cost, revenue, cashflow, and resource forecasts
- Track actual costs and revenues, reviewing allocations and explaining variances
- Assist with payroll accounting, billing, invoicing, and treasury processes
- Support month-end activities including accruals, allocations, and reporting
- Work with operational teams to forecast resources and cost impacts
- Liaise with procurement to ensure accurate cost recognition and commitments
- Produce cost centre reports, cashflow forecasts, and meaningful financial analysis
- Support risk and opportunity tracking
- Provide ad-hoc financial reporting to internal stakeholders and external bodies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and controls
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a finance support or assistant role
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, cashflow, and Profit & Loss
- Experience producing cost centre reports and financial forecasts
- Comfortable working with coding for procurement and cost allocation
- Confident working closely with senior finance stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience within aerospace, defence, MOD, or similarly regulated environments is desirable
Qualifications
- AAT, CIMA (part-qualified), or similar would be advantageous but not essential
