Lead engineering investigations, delivering clear, concise analyses and robust corrective actions. Demonstrate persistence and technical depth when tackling complex, high pressure engineering challenges.
- Design, Validation & Optimisation: Translate customer and internal requirements into robust mechanical designs. Apply calculations, analysis, and validation tools to verify and refine solutions. Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture, assembly, cost, and quality.
- Continuous Improvement & Governance: Lead detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and drive corrective actions. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, both technically and behaviourally. Author, review, and approve engineering documentation throughout the through life support phase. Contribute to and report against engineering KPIs and budget targets.
What We're Looking For:
- Essential Experience & Skills: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Strong background designing complex electromechanical products within highly regulated industries (e.g. aerospace). Proven ability to analyse complex problems and deliver practical, high quality engineering solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Deep understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and production methods. Experience leading investigations, RCA, and design assurance activities.
- Highly Desirable: Experience with rotating machinery, including motors and generators. Background across R&T, R&D, and NPI environments. Strong CAD/PLM capability (NX, CATIA, Teamcenter, Windchill). Ability to interpret and challenge technical analyses (FEA, thermal, bearings, hand calculations).
Why This Contract? 12 month Inside IR35 engagement with a strong technical challenge. High visibility role with genuine influence on engineering outcomes. Opportunity to work within an advanced aerospace environment. Ideal for contractors open to relocating to Pitstone for a rewarding, hands on assignment.
