Working days: Monday to Thursday onsite and Friday’s are off

Our Client, a Global manufacturing company, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract position in Larne, Northern Ireland.

Role:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will carry out the concept and design of electrical engineering products for release to production, ensuring products provide superior performance, best cost, durability, quality, and serviceability. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

For the right candidate, this role will include opportunities to travel for commissioning and product support.

Responsibilities:

1. Interpret consultant drawings and specifications.
2. Develop new products and components.
3. Prepare submittal documentation for projects.
4. Meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
5. Design controls and protection for generators, motors, and related equipment.
6. Specify and requisition components and services.
7. Create bills of materials.
8. Be responsible for all assigned work and work as a member of a project team.
9. Maintain project schedules and attend project meetings.
10. Keep the electrical manager informed of status.
11. Complete required project metrics and design documentation.
12. Assist with product testing and evaluation.

Experience:

• Experience in product development with a strong technical background and a good knowledge of current engineering design practices.
• Experience in the use of design packages such as ePlan, AutoCAD, or similar is advantageous.
• Knowledge of electrical installation standards, industrial controls, MCCs, and switchboards is advantageous.
• A Degree, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline, along with 4 years of relevant experience.
• Lower academic qualifications may be considered if extensive experience in a relevant product development role (e.g., design, test, commissioning, etc.) can be demonstrated.
• Industry experience: Pannell Manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, anyone who makes machines, machinery.
• Electrical Product design experience is essential.
