Detail Design Engineers – Marine Projects (Junior to Senior Level)

Location: Belcan Derby or Glasgow Office

Employment Type: Permanent or Contract

Belcan is expanding its Marine business unit and is seeking talented Detail Design Engineers across multiple disciplines—Structural, Piping, Electrical, and Outfit Design—to support the delivery of complex naval ship projects. We welcome applications from Junior through to Senior level professionals, offering flexible career paths and the opportunity to work on high-impact engineering solutions.

Role Overview:

As a Detail Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D design outputs across a range of marine systems and structures. You’ll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support the design, development, and integration of components and systems for naval vessels.

Disciplines & Technical Focus Areas:

🔹 Structural Design

  • Modelling and drafting of bulkheads and decks
  • Shell modelling and nesting

🔹 Piping Design

  • Pipe routing and isometric outputs

🔹 Electrical Design

  • Electrical system/component design
  • Electronic schematic analysis
  • CMPIC / cable management
  • Cable segregation and load calculations

🔹 Outfit Design

  • Compartment design
  • Integration of equipment
  • Ship’s access and escape equipment
  • Insulation, paint, and deck coverings

Key Toolsets:

  • PTC Windchill
  • Siemens NX
  • Siemens Foran
  • Ship Constructor SSI
  • Aveva PDMS (for piping design)

Preferred Experience:

  • Naval Ships
  • Cable Networks
  • Processing Plants (for piping design)
