A pivotal role on one of the UK's most complex engineering programmes. An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an Agent to join a site-based delivery team supporting a major infrastructure project in the Southwest. This role places the successful candidate at the heart of one of the most challenging and technically demanding programmes in the UK, with responsibility for leading and overseeing construction activities at site level.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Culture: Provides strong, positive leadership in a client-facing environment, championing a culture of safety, quality, and professional behaviours.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Manages and aligns subcontractor activities, chairing regular coordination meetings to ensure efficient and collaborative delivery.
- Senior Leadership Reporting: Reports effectively to senior leadership teams across multiple project functions, both directly and indirectly.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with site teams and business functions to enable progress and resolve constraints.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Identifies risks and opportunities, maintaining the project Risk Register in partnership with relevant functions.
- Technical Scrutiny: Reviews drawings and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and buildability.
- Intelligent Oversight: Oversees site activities, raising TQs, RFIs, NCRs, and ensuring adherence to project standards and expectations.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensures full compliance with legislation, site rules, SSoWs, RAMS, permits, and governance arrangements.
- Team Development: Supports training and development for subcontractors, supervisors, and site teams.
- Scheduling & Programming: Leads detailed scheduling and programming of site activities with subcontractors and internal teams.
- Meetings & Documentation: Coordinates H&S and progress meetings and ensures all documentation is completed for project handover.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 5+ years of site experience in a similar role.
- Strong technical understanding of construction techniques and best practice.
- Proven leadership experience on complex projects or programmes.
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office, scheduling software, and document management systems.
Desirable:
- BIM / Digital Engineering (Autodesk, Bentley).
- Scheduling tools (Aphex, P6).
- Behavioural Safety or Safety Leadership experience.
- Experience in regulated environments and complex project delivery.
- Strong understanding of construction legislation (HSAWA, CDM).
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.
- Commercial, financial, and analytical capability with a solution-focused mindset.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Relevant CSCS card.
Desirable:
- Chartered status (or working toward it).
- Project Management training (APM, Prince2).
- NEC PM accreditation.
- Nuclear training (e.g., Triple Bar).
- SMSTS / IOSH / Senior Leaders Safety.
- Additional site qualifications (e.g., Appointed Person, Confined Spaces, Temporary Works).
