Senior Marine Vessel Engineering Consultant Contract: Inside IR35. Advise. Influence. Deliver Excellence at Sea. This is a consulting-focused contract role. You will shape decisions, optimise systems, and influence engineering outcomes across the full vessel lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
- Provide expert consulting advice across critical vessel systems, including HVAC, Hydraulics, Electrical, and Structural disciplines.
- Lead technical assessments covering HVAC, Hydraulics, Electrical, and Structural systems performance and integration.
- Diagnose and resolve complex cross‑discipline issues spanning HVAC, Hydraulics, Electrical, and Structural engineering challenges.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert supporting design reviews using advanced tools such as FORAN.
- Advise on upgrades, refits, and modifications, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
- Drive improvements in efficiency, reliability, and sustainability through strategic consulting input.
- Support stakeholders during dry dock, commissioning, and in‑service phases with high‑level technical expertise.
Your Expertise
- Strong consulting experience across at least one of the following disciplines: HVAC systems (ventilation, chilled water, air quality control), Hydraulics systems (fluid power, control, actuation), Electrical systems (power distribution, diagnostics, control systems), or Structural engineering (integrity, fatigue, modifications, and repair).
- Proven ability to assess and optimise HVAC, Hydraulics, Electrical, and Structural systems in operational environments.
- Strong understanding of marine regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and Class requirements.
- Experience advising on system upgrades, maintenance strategies, and performance analytics.
- Familiarity with digital ship design tools such as FORAN.

- Experience with digital ship design tools such as FORAN.
- Desirable certifications across HVAC, Hydraulics, Electrical, or Structural specialisms.
