Bela Recruitment is hiring a Supply Chain Manager (Senior Buyer) in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. Part of a wider group of companies with a significant turnover and headcount, this new business already has a £15M turnover and is growing. Job Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will lead supply chain functions and oversee all aspects of procurement, logistics, and inventory management, whilst optimising supply chain and building strong supplier relationships.
  • Develop and implement industry sourcing strategies to identify reliable suppliers, negotiate favourable contracts, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials at competitive prices.
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships.
  • Work with the R&D team to source products and materials to support an expansion of the product range.
  • Optimise inventory levels to balance supply and demand, minimising stock holding costs while avoiding stockouts.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Collaborate with sales and production teams to develop accurate demand forecasts and ensure that supply plans are aligned with business needs.
  • Understand sales performance and anticipated trends based on internal/external factors, translating this into a production forecast to be agreed with third-party suppliers.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems to improve supply chain visibility.
  • Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards related to procurement, logistics, and safety.
  • Report on all key supply chain metrics - inventory levels, supplier performance, and logistics costs, analysing for improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, including sales, production, finance, and customer service, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of supply chain activities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or 3 years experience at a similar level, ideally from an Engineering/Manufacturing type business.
  • Recent and extensive experience in an operations and supply chain management role within a warehouse and production environment.
  • Working knowledge of international imports, transportation, tariffs, and duties.
  • Demonstrable understanding of supply chain principles, best practices, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, strong IT skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
