Bela Recruitment is currently hiring a Maintenance Engineer Team Leader to join a successful and growing manufacturing business in Downpatrick, Co. Down.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader, Lead Engineer or Senior Maintenance Engineer looking for a well-paid position with responsibility for both people and plant.
You'll lead a team of Shift Engineers, helping ensure production machinery and site equipment operate safely and reliably, while reducing breakdowns and production downtime.
This is still very much an engineering job – you'll need strong hands-on maintenance and fault-finding experience alongside the ability to lead, organise and support an engineering team.
The Job
Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will:
- Lead and support the Shift Engineering / Maintenance team.
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant and production machinery.
- Carry out and support fault finding, problem solving and repairs to minimise downtime.
- Support engineers during machinery breakdowns and more complex maintenance issues.
- Develop maintenance schedules and ensure planned work is completed.
- Coordinate the installation of new plant and machinery.
- Manage and coordinate external engineering and maintenance contractors.
- Ensure maintenance logs, schedules and engineering records are completed accurately.
- Report major breakdowns, recurring faults, repairs and machine downtime.
- Ensure maintenance work meets Health & Safety, quality, insurance and ISO requirements.
- Work closely with Production, Operations and the wider Engineering team to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Support the Engineering Manager and Operations Director with engineering projects and improvements.
What We're Looking For? You'll Ideally, you will have:
- Around 5+ years' engineering / maintenance experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam equipment.
- Previous experience leading, supervising or supporting Maintenance / Shift Engineers.
- Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise breakdowns, planned maintenance and engineering workloads in a busy production environment.
