Senior Quantity Surveyor sought, Exeter / Taunton. Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career with a major UK construction and engineering business? We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established project delivery team based in either Exeter or Taunton, working between Plymouth and Bristol as needed. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation that places a strong emphasis on professional development, collaboration, and long-term career progression.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Managing the commercial performance of multiple projects.
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment and valuations.
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts.
  • Producing cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting contract negotiations and dispute resolution where required.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering, M&E, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and/or JCT.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and financial management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and client-facing commercial activities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
