Senior Estimator – Civils / Solar / Infrastructure / Mechanical / Electrical

You’ll be joining a leading UK renewable energy contractor delivering utility‑scale solar PV, battery storage and major civils packages across the country.

The organisation provides full‑scope engineering, procurement, construction and civil works for grid‑scale solar and BESS projects, with in‑house engineering, groundworks and high‑voltage capability.

The Role

As a Solar Estimator, you will play a key part in the pre‑construction and tendering process for large‑scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

You’ll work closely with engineering, procurement and construction teams to produce accurate costings, assess technical drawings, and support value‑engineered solutions for solar PV, BESS and civils packages.

This role suits someone with experience in civils, solar, utilities, or wider infrastructure estimating who wants to contribute to the delivery of major renewable energy projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed cost estimates for solar PV, BESS and associated civils works.
  • Review engineering designs, feasibility studies and technical documentation.
  • Liaise with procurement teams to source verified Tier 1 suppliers and obtain competitive pricing.
  • Work with project managers and engineers to support project optimisation and value engineering.
  • Analyse groundworks, drainage, foundations, trenching, road construction and other civils scopes relevant to utility‑scale energy sites.
  • Prepare tender submissions, budgets, BOQs and cost breakdowns.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, programme planning and cost‑control processes.

Experience Required

  • Background in estimating within civils, solar, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement and construction.
  • Competent with estimating software, Excel and cost‑modelling tools.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
