Overview
Quantity Surveyor sought – Northampton. Bekk R Solutions are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a client of ours based in the Corby area of Northampton. You will have general construction / fit out experience and a keen desire to contribute commercially to a progressive and developing business with a turnover of circa £30M per annum.
The Role
You will work closely with senior team members to deliver a full range of commercial duties, including procurement, cost management, and supply chain oversight. Your goal will be to maximise value for money while ensuring projects meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure, record, and value works in line with relevant procedures.
- Work with Project Managers and contractors on value engineering initiatives.
- Build estimates from first principles and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates.
- Provide commercial input on potential tenders and assess Go/No-Go decisions.
- Monitor project programmes and ensure commercial activities align with schedules.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims, including monthly valuations and final accounts.
- Use NEC3/4 contracts to manage Early Warning Notices, Risk Registers, and Compensation Events.
- Oversee subcontractor activities, including order placement, measurement, and final account agreements.
- Collect and document procurement and cost information accurately.
- Engage with stakeholders and clients to ensure commercial compliance.
- Support cash management processes, including retentions and debt recovery.
What We\’re Looking For
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction, building, fit out, or building services sectors.
- Experience working in occupied buildings or campuses.
- Knowledge of NEC3 contracts (highly desirable).
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office and project management software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of organisation, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of problem-solving independently.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality service with reliability and flexibility.
