Commercial Manager / Managing Quantity Surveyor sought, Plymouth / Hybrid. Bekk R Solutions are delighted to once again support a national contractor seeking further commercial support with the addition of a Commercial Manager (Senior Quantity Surveyor) to their Plymouth based team. Ideally, you will have NEC contract knowledge and an understanding of MoD / Defence related schemes.
In this position, you will play a key role in overseeing the commercial performance of projects from tender through to final account. You’ll work closely with senior management, project teams, and clients to manage risk, maximise opportunities, and ensure successful project outcomes.
Day to day,
- Leading and managing the project commercial team, providing support, guidance, and development.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities across live projects.
- Working closely with project teams to ensure contractual obligations are understood and delivered.
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Leading negotiations on contract terms, valuations, and final account settlements.
- Supporting the Commercial Director with management accounts, business plans, and contract reviews.
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment and working with finance to ensure timely receipt.
- Managing subcontract agreements and ongoing commercial performance.
- Maintaining accurate records to support decision-making and avoid disputes.
- Promoting a positive, safety-first culture across all activities.
What you’ll need to succeed,
- Strong experience in commercial management within construction (MEP / Contracting etc)
- Experience working with NEC contracts
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Degree or equivalent qualification in quantity surveying or commercial management
