Trainee Mechanical Contracts Manager sought, Gloucestershire (Cirencester / Gloucester / Cheltenham / Bristol). Are you a qualified Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career and move into project and contract management? Our client is a well-established and growing Mechanical Building Services contractor delivering high-quality commercial projects across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an ambitious Trainee Mechanical Contracts Manager to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a commercially aware Mechanical Engineer who has gained valuable site-based experience and is now looking to progress into a management role away from the tools.

The Role

  • Working closely with experienced Contracts Managers and Senior Leadership, you will receive ongoing support and development to build a successful career in Mechanical Contracts Management.
  • You will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of project delivery, including client management, procurement, commercial control, programme management and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the management of mechanical building services projects from inception through to completion
  • Supporting procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors
  • Attending project, client and site meetings
  • Monitoring project progress against programme and budget
  • Assisting with cost control, valuations and variations
  • Coordinating labour resources and subcontractors
  • Supporting quality assurance and project documentation
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained throughout project delivery
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships

About You

  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Essential requirement – SSSTS / SMSTS and a Black / Gold ECS / CSCS card (this is non negotiable)
  • Experience within commercial mechanical building services
  • Knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, pipework or plumbing installations
  • Strong understanding of site operations and project delivery
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in project management
  • Ambitious, motivated and eager to progress into a Contracts Management position
  • Full UK Driving Licence and the flexibility to travel as needed
