Electrical Estimator sought, Gloucestershire. We are actively seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator / Electrical Estimator to join a progressive MEP contractor based in the Gloucestershire area. The business offers D&B services to an array of private and public sector clients, with extensive project expertise across various commercial and industrial sectors including retail and leisure, healthcare, industrial, commercial, accommodation, and education throughout the UK.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Services Estimator to join the Pre-Construction team in Cirencester. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial projects and be both technically and commercially astute. Reporting to the Construction Director, this role comprises but is not limited to:
- Review of tender documentation including specifications and employer’s requirements, together with the preparation of timely and accurate pricing estimates, to include labour, materials, subcontract items, determining the type, quantity and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each project.
- Preparing tenders for internal adjudications.
- Vetting incoming tenders/offers from our supply chain and ensuring that the most viable offer is included within our submission.
- Arranging tender adjudication meetings and explaining to the attendees the project duration, costing approach and risks to the business.
- Continual review of project costs against tender costs and update of in-house costing software.
- Liaison with main contractors, clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and in-house design and construction departments.
Skills and Behaviours:
- Commercially astute, able to identify and manage risk and anticipate issues that may affect costs and address them proactively.
- An eye for detail and proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Proactive with the skills to assess better systems of work in order to advise and assist clients on systems that will save time and money.
- Ability to take project ownership whilst under the support of the Construction Director and work both independently and as part of a wider multi-discipline team.
- Good communicator with a positive attitude.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of pricing and operation of building services. Proven experience in a similar position with an M&E contractor or in the M&E division of a main contractor. Experience in the commercial office and warehousing sector would be advantageous.
- Excellent knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Services Design and Cost elements and the ability to estimate costs based on architectural drawings and specifications as a minimum.
- Must have the ability to estimate costs and timescales accurately and work to meet tender return deadlines.
- Computer literate and competent in data handling including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent analytic, numeric and literacy skills.
- Excellent communication skills, organisational skills and to be a team player.
- General understanding of other MEP disciplines, BREEAM and Sustainability.
