Flintstone Technology is a dynamic engineering company based in Dundee, Scotland, specializing in the design and manufacture of innovative permanent mooring solutions for the global energy sector. Role Overview: We are seeking a talented Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves providing design and structural analysis for Flintstone products, focusing on leading and overseeing complex structural engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and analyze new products, improve existing designs, and modify them to meet specific project requirements.
  • Perform manual and MathCad calculations to support and verify design work.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks) for design tasks.
  • Lead the design team, coordinating tasks and managing deliverables to ensure project deadlines, quality standards, and budget constraints are met.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting their professional development.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing technical advice and ensuring client requirements are met.
  • Attend client meetings and presentations as a subject matter expert.
  • Participate in project design reviews to ensure the best solutions are delivered.
  • Conduct failure mode effect and criticality analysis.
  • Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and documentation.
  • Perform site visits, inspections, and assessments to verify design implementation and identify potential issues.
  • Prepare project design documents for presentation to clients, authorities, and third parties.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline (e.g., Structural Engineering).
  • Extensive experience in structural design (5-10 years), with a strong track record in managing large, complex projects.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), 3D CAD, FEA, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Abaqus (FEA software) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Familiarity with ANSYS or similar software is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Honesty, reliability, and discretion when handling confidential information.
