The job requirements are detailed below. We are inviting qualified and registered social workers who have at least two years post qualification experience in frontline children's statutory services in Sheffield to apply for senior social worker posts in our frontline child protection/child in need statutory services.
You must be able to work independently to hold and effectively manage a caseload of complex cases and have experience of working on full sets of care proceedings and attended court. You must be able to respond to complex referrals, provide casework advice, support, and guidance to other team members.
Carry out investigations, assessment, and management of risk, write reports, give evidence in court, and provide professional opinion and work with children and young people in care, at all times following statutory and service standards and guidance.
You will ideally have mentored a student social worker and be ready for Practice Educator responsibility. If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade. Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026.
