Help shape how Sheffield delivers one of the biggest changes to housing legislation in a generation. The introduction of the Renters' Rights Act represents one of the most significant changes to housing legislation in recent years. At Sheffield City Council we're strengthening our Performance and Quality Assurance function to help ensure the new legislation is implemented consistently, confidently and effectively across Homelessness and Supported Housing.

We're looking for a Quality Assurance Officer who is passionate about improving services, supporting colleagues and helping us deliver the highest standards of practice for Sheffield residents. This is a unique opportunity to influence how services develop, support learning across teams and help ensure people receive the right advice at the right time.

About the role: You’ll work alongside operational managers and the Housing Team Leader (Performance & Quality Assurance) to support the implementation of the Renters' Rights Act, the identification of breaches of the Act, and the wider development of Homelessness and Supported Housing. Using quality assurance, data, customer insight and professional curiosity, you’ll identify opportunities to improve consistency, develop learning and strengthen practice across the service, and identify help with the identification of breaches of the Renters’ Rights Act that may lead to enforcement.

• Carry out quality assurance reviews across Housing Advice, Rehousing and Supported Housing.
• Identify themes, trends and opportunities for learning and service improvement.
• Support the development of guidance, learning materials and quality standards.
• Work alongside managers to improve consistency and confidence in decision making.

About you: You’ll enjoy asking questions, analysing information and helping others learn. You’ll bring:

• Experience within housing, homelessness or a similar public service.
• A sound understanding of housing legislation or the ability to interpret legislation and guidance.
• Experience of quality assurance, auditing, performance analysis or service improvement.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• The confidence to provide constructive professional challenge in a supportive way.
• The ability to build positive relationships with colleagues across different services.
• A commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for residents.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade. Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026.
